Comprehensive Mechanical Services

Delivering technically innovative and cost-effective mechanical services solutions

Fire Safety

Fire safety, pressurisation and smoke management is paramount in any commercial or industrial environment, where the risk of fire and smoke can have severe consequences.

Our Approach

Our fire safety systems are engineered to meet the larger scale and complexity of commercial and industrial facilities. Our design takes into account high occupancy areas, unique building layouts, and specific industry risks, ensuring rapid and effective fire response.

Our smoke hazard management systems include automated smoke extraction and pressurisation systems that activate immediately upon detecting smoke, ensuring the system’s reliability in emergencies and enabling safe evacuation. Our systems are AS 1851 compliant and with mandated quarterly inspection and testing, we are on hand to ensure fire and smoke control systems are operating as required.

Fire Safety, Pressurisation, and Smoke Management

Fire safety is paramount in any commercial or industrial environment, where the risk of fire can have severe consequences. Implementing comprehensive fire safety systems is essential to protect both property and occupants.

Smoke Hazard Management

Smoke hazard management systems are designed to control and extract smoke during a fire event, preventing it from spreading throughout the building and ensuring that evacuation routes remain clear and accessible. These systems are particularly vital in high-density buildings, where the safety of a large number of occupants must be ensured under emergency conditions. Smoke dampers play a critical role in limiting the spread of smoke by controlling airflow through ducts, while heat vents help to expel hot gases, reducing the risk of heat accumulation and potential structural damage.

Fire Dampers and Smoke Dampers

Fire dampers are integral to stopping the spread of fire through HVAC systems by automatically closing when exposed to heat, preventing fire from travelling through ventilation ducts. Coupled with smoke dampers, which regulate the movement of smoke in ventilation systems, these components are essential for maintaining a safe environment and supporting safe evacuation during a fire.

Stair Pressurisation and Zone Pressurisation

Stair pressurisation ensures positive airflow in stairwells and evacuation routes, preventing the infiltration of smoke and contaminants, and creating clear, safe pathways for occupants. Similarly, zone pressurisation is used in specific areas to maintain a positive pressure, further isolating sensitive spaces from the effects of smoke and fire, and maintaining a safe, breathable environment during emergencies.

Carpark Ventilation and Carbon Monoxide Control

Carparks, particularly underground ones, present unique fire safety challenges due to the risk of both smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) accumulation. Carpark ventilation systems are designed to manage smoke in the event of a fire and to continuously ventilate CO build-up caused by vehicle emissions. Carbon monoxide control systems are essential for maintaining air quality and ensuring the safety of both occupants and emergency responders in these high-risk areas.

Compliance & Customisation

Adhering to stringent fire safety codes and standards is essential. Our systems help clients maintain compliance and support emergency management strategies, keeping buildings and occupants safe, while meeting strict air quality and fire safety regulations, including those set out within the National Construction CODE (NCC).

We understand the need for both safety and cost-effectiveness. Our approach ensures that while safety remains our top priority, we deliver solutions that are pragmatic and tailored to your specific operational needs. By optimising system performance, extending the life of existing infrastructure, and making strategic, necessity-driven investments, we provide high-quality fire safety and smoke management systems that minimize costs without compromising on safety or compliance.
